What has this world come to?!” Well, there’s really no need to worry; on the lead single off his forthcoming debut album, the Virgin Islands singer/emcee is simply using America as a metaphor for a female he loves as passionately as the most zealous – and protective – patriot: “[I’ll] fight to keep her, battle anyone if they try to steal her…” Club-hop hitmaker Pitbull one-ups the headliner’s innocent expressions of love on the guest tip, revealing that it’s not just his heart that’s burning with patriotic fervor. Boasting a creative concept, an uptempo, synth-driven beat by Rodney “Darkchild” Jenkins and an insanely catchy sing-along chorus, this single seems destined to soar to the top of the charts like the pop-music equivalent of a bald eagle. Agree? Disagree? Either way, fans will be able to find this nationalistic banger, along with (I assume) plenty of straight-up bedroom jams on Verse’s Stories of a Bachelor LP, set to drop sometime this summer via Interscope.
